Chase Arlington had to relocate for financial reasons from New York City to corn country in Ohio with his German Shepherd mix, Mutley. Working as a physical therapist at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Chase thought his skills could be used to serve the men who fought for his country. He didn’t realize he’d miss the rush and glitter of the Big Apple, not to mention being an out gay man in Manhattan where he was open with his family without fear of recrimination. Staff Sergeant Gary Wilson worked in the air force reserves, soon to be called for his tour of duty in Iraq. He was living day to day, deeply in the closet to his parents and co-workers, passing the time until he went to Al Taji Air Base. Until he met the handsome Chase Arlington. Every weekend Chase and Mutley ran cross country in the park, only to see the same nine men playing tackle football week after week. Wishing he could participate, lonely and too new in town to have established friends, Chase takes a moment to watch the game. Instantly Chase catches the eye of big, muscular, Gary Wilson. Gary is smitten by the handsome man and makes the bold move of running after Chase to invite him to even up the sides of their football match. Chase gladly accepts and joins in the fun. The attraction between Chase and Gary grows by each passing moment and soon they begin to spend all their time together. But the looming tour of duty is something the two men are dreading, and Chase in particular has very strong views on the war, and fears for Gary’s life. Inevitably Gary is summoned to duty, leaving behind a distraught Chase. As the time crawls by until Gary is allowed to return home, Chase tries not to imagine anything happening to the man he loves, until that dreaded phone call comes in the night. With guest appearances from Secrets and Misdemeanors’ Lyle Wilson and David Thornton, and Leather Boys’ Devlin Young and Sam Rhodes, Chase finds his love, loyalty and patriotism are tested to the extreme as Gary’s fate is in the hands of others. Sometimes it takes every ounce of strength you possess to convince the one you love that no matter what, you are still the man you were, all man, and nothing less.

I just stopped reading - end of chapter four and OMG ... Ok I will admit this is not my favourite author but I have read some of her other books and liked them.. But this is just totally unbelievable.... Day one, play a game of football with a bunch of gay men with the one main character apparently not "out" .. And within the span of that game, a drive to dinner they are practically confessing their love for one another... The other main character states he is almost in tears over the thought Gary has to go to Iraq...ummm he's a soldier... duh....All they know about each other? Gay, # of siblings and where they were raised... Give me a break... I can go for instant attraction...even love tut not how this is portrayed... Chase comes across as the worst sort of whinny-girl..and that is a major insult to my sex.. I don't think even a hormone driven teeny bopper would act like that.... Very likely I won't finish this one.

All Man G A Hauser 9781491250259 Books Reviews

This story is what makes G. A. HAUSER so endearing to her readers. The characters, Chase, and Gary, are so loveable that we as readers fall in love with them. The plot was great also. A MUST READ.
The worst hardship there is is being lonely. Nothing is worse. When a friendship begins to blossom, then the world becomes tolerable, but when love begins to happen then the world is the happiest place to be. Chase was given the chance to not be lonely anymore and the chance to love. Then there's that "having to say goodbye" thing that gets in the way and then having to wait and wait and wait. Hey, it's hard enough on the nerves of the reader, much less the main characters. If you like a good m/m love story, served with the hateful parents, compassionate friends, and a loyal dog, then this one is for you.
This was the first story I've by the author and I must say I was very disappointed. The plot was weak, gay guy moves to the Midwest where there are no gays, yeah right, and meets the man of his dreams only to have him go "off to war".
The characters very needy and whining. In the end, and I barely made it there, the resolution was predictable and flat.
I would not recommend it.
Very little romance. Gary and Chance meet, have sex and fall in love. Just a bit shy of Insta-luv, but not by much. The dialog and emotions for the men make them sound like teenagers. The sex scenes are written long and verbose. There is an attempt to create a plot and tension but this book is mostly descriptions of men having sex, thinking about sex, and waiting to have sex. I returned it. Not one of Ms Hauser's better books, IMHO.
Several aspects of this story really grabbed me. One was the military aspect. Since I was in the military myself I related strongly to one of the main characters. Also, the pickup football games were fun in how they were critical to part of the story development. Finally, the dog and the responses to him by the two main characters including a dramatic action by the dog related to one of the football games was a third hook. I loved this story and will read it again in a year because I enjoyed it so much.
The basis for the story is good. I liked the characters, just could not get past the complete lack of research.

There are so many errors I am not sure where to start. Wright Patterson Air Force Base is shortened to Wright Patt - 2 "T"s not one. Wright Patt is not "crawling with jarheads". Jarheads are Marines, not USAF. These might minor but they set the tone early. Gary Wilson's parents moved to Dayton, Ohio 10 years ago...in the previous book about his brother Lyle they still lived in Oregon. Huge whoops. Then there is all the garbage concerning no gay bars/clubs in Dayton and how horrid the Dayton area is because they have to hide being gay. Obviously the writer has never been to Dayton nor have they done ANY type of research. Yes, it's fiction, but if real places are used, get your stuff together. Dayton has openly gay commissioners, judges, and yes even gay bars. Schools allow same sex couples to dances. It's not New York City, but it isn't BFE Texas either.
I won't be purchasing any more books from this author. Too hard to get past the glaring flaws.
Normally I would give this book 4 to 5 stars. I like this author. But, this is the second time in the last month that I have been "tricked" into buying a book that I have already read. "The GA Hauser Collection, LLC" is just a mass release of old books with new covers. Don't get caught! And shame on for allowing this. No where in the copy or on the buying page is it stated that these books have been previously published. I think that is wrong at best, and deliberately duplicitous at worst.
